Using worms to convert your kitchen scraps into wonderful, soil amending black gold!
There are also grey water degins that I have seen that incorporate a couple of worm bins to filter the food scraps out of the grey water stream. This helps prevent the gooey-guck that builds up in the drip-lines from all that organic matter getting washed down the kitchen sink. Probably the best thing is to have the worm bin either under the sink or buried in the ground outside. Caution about allowing the bin to freeze in the winter.
I have not tried this out yet, but I do have two worm bins where I am breeding worms and will be installing the under the sink option in the near future.
Currently, I have only seen one system in action and the designs for another that was installed by
EcoSense
I will update the references on this as I find them.
Cheers,
Tim
